Electronic Data Systems Corp. of Plano, Texas, has sold Web-ready collaborative software to the Joint Strike Fighter program.
Through the $8 million contract, the JSF program will use Teamcenter software to design, build, test and deploy the Defense Department's next-generation aircraft fleet. JSF is the department's initiative to develop cost-effective aircraft weapons systems for the Air Force, Navy, Marines and American allies.
A team led by Lockheed Martin Corp. won the JSF contract Oct. 26, and it expects to build more than 3,000 fighters for the military. The JSF program brings together more than 10,000 personnel from Lockheed Martin and two dozen partners and suppliers. The Defense Department expects to begin using the first JSF planes in 2008
