Wisconsin Unveils $35M in IT Grants for Schools
Wisconsin's TEACH program will distribute grants to public school districts, charter schools and juvenile correctional facilities in February.
Wisconsin's Technology for Educational Achievement program plans to distribute $35 million in block grants to 426 public school districts, seven charter schools and four juvenile correctional facilities in February, officials said.
The grants, announced last week, can be used for computer hardware and software, distance-education classroom equipment, Internet access and staff training.
The block grants can be used for any educational purpose except paying the salaries and benefits of school district employees.
The TEACH program will begin to issue checks to school agencies Feb. 4, 2002. Web users can check the amounts of specific grants at www.teachwi.state.wi.us/scdist.asp.
