Teets Assumes Air Force Post

Peter Teets, former president and chief operating officer of Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., has been sworn in as undersecretary of the Air Force.

William Davidson, administrative assistant to the secretary of the Air Force, swore Teets in Dec. 13.

The undersecretary of the Air Force serves as the Department of Defense executive agent for space and is director of the National Reconnaissance Office. He has authority over all Defense Department and NRO space programs, is the Air Force acquisition executive for space, and oversees and directs the national security space architect.

Teets has worked in engineering and management positions in industry since 1963. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in applied mathematics at the University of Colorado, and earned a master's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"This is such a challenging and exciting time for the Air Force and the Department of Defense. Our nation's efforts in space are leading the way to success for the warfighter today and into the future. I look forward to being a part of it," Teets said.
