OAO Wins $200 Million NASA Extension

OAO Corp. of Greenbelt, Md., won a three-year, $200 million contract extension to continue its desktop outsourcing and related services for NASA. The work is being done under the Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA, known as ODIN.

OAO won the contract in December 1998 and is responsible for 23,000 desktop computers, 12,000 network devices and 37,000 telephony seats at NASA's four space flight enterprise centers: Johnson, Kennedy, Marshall and Stennis.

The extension begins in December and runs through November 2004.

"OAO has demonstrated their ability to adapt well to this new model of service delivery, and more importantly, to work as a partner with NASA," said Mark Hagerty, NASA ODIN program manager.

In addition to the space flight centers, OAO provides outsourcing services for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory under a separate contract.

In October, Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md., announced it was acquiring OAO for an undisclosed amount. OAO had revenue in 2000 of more than $200 million. The deal is expected to close by the end of the year.
