Hansen Wins Los Angeles Code Enforcement Contract

Hansen Information Technologies Inc. has won a $1.3 million contract from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety to provide a citywide code enforcement information system, the company announced July 5.

Under the terms of the contract, Hansen will provide software licensing, project management, data conversion, interface development and training.

More than 200 department employees located throughout the city will be using the new system to manage the code enforcement activities within the city, including the investigation of more than 50,000 complaints annually.

In addition, more than 150 field inspectors, who conduct about 250,000 inspections annually, will be using Hansen's new wireless mobile solutions technology to manage the process.

The city is also considering purchasing a license to use Hansen's portal component that would integrate Hansen's application with the city's existing Web site.

The Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety is responsible for implementing the zoning, building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes as well as state and local laws for construction and maintenance of commercial, industrial and residential buildings with the city limits.

Hansen of Sacramento, Calif., has licensed more than 60,000 of its products to more than 300 state and local governments in the United States and abroad, said Christy Sinclair, a company spokeswoman. The company has about 180 employees, she said.
