Denver Schools Go Shopping with Epylon, Deloitte

Epylon Corp. of San Francisco has won a five-year contract to provide electronic procurement for Denver Public Schools.

Deloitte Consulting of New York will join Epylon on the project, said Epylon officials March 5.

Epylon and Deloitte will integrate Epylon's purchasing solution into Denver public schools' existing financial system.

The Epylon solution is a self-funding model. Epylon charges a negotiated marketing fee to suppliers in exchange for providing them with access to a new distribution channel.

Ultimately, Denver Public Schools will have access to more than 1,600 local and national vendors through the Epylon Supplier Network, according to Epylon. The school district serves more than 70,000 students.

Epylon's business model and Deloitte's change management services played key roles in Denver's selection of Epylon, said company and public officials.

"In a competitive evaluation, Epylon's software and services ranked above the competitive offerings, not only when comparing features and benefits delivered to Denver Public Schools but also in Epylon's innovative and aggressive implementation strategy," said Craig Cook, chief operating officer, Denver Public Schools.
