Interview with Mark Day
Director, Strategic Programs, Office of Integrated Technology Services, GSA Federal Acquisition Service
FCW: What is the mission of GSA’s Office of Integrated Technology Services (ITS)?
Day: ITS’s mission is to deliver ”Great Government” through Technology. ITS works with GSA’s industry partners to provide agencies with access to the most up-to-date portfolio of solutions, including security, cloud, commodities, building and campus technology infrastructure, telecommunications, and a host of other specialized solutions. ITS focuses on reducing acquisition time, cost, and risk, allowing customers to focus on their missions.
FCW: How does Alliant fit with ITS’s portfolio of programs and offerings?
Day: Alliant is a Governmentwide Acquisition Contract (GWAC), which provides agencies with access to total, customizable IT solutions. Alliant handles the complex requirements that can cross over many areas of IT to deliver enterprise wide solutions. The scope of Alliant aligns with the Federal Enterprise Architecture and encompasses all components of an integrated IT solution.
FCW: Why should federal agencies consider using Alliant?
Day: Alliant is helping federal agencies address the challenges of tighter budgets while providing customized solutions for flexible, responsive and mobile government technology. Cloud computing, cyber security, information assurance, and data center consolidation are just some of the prominent issues facing agencies, and all are within the scope of GSA’s Alliant GWAC. Additionally, Alliant provides an excellent level of competition with an average level of 3.6 offers per request for proposal (RFP) and absolutely no protests have been sustained by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Alliant should be the vehicle of choice for agencies with complex IT requirements that want an unparalleled level of customer service.
