    SAIC taps insider as new group general manager

    Science Applications International Corp. has named James R. Moos group general manager of the company’s Engineering Solutions Group. Moos is a senior vice president at SAIC.

    SAIC’s Engineering Solutions Group is comprised of around 4,900 employees, and is focused on solving national problems in energy, environment and infrastructure markets, the company said in a release.

    Moos was formerly deputy general manager of the group. He most recently led the company’s Environment & Civil Infrastructure Operation.

    The body count surrounding the Nova Datacom-Army Corps of Engineers bribery and kickback scandal continues to grow, reaching 15 guilty pleas on Thursday.

    This time it is Min Jung Cho, the president of the now defunct company, who admitted to her role in a conspiracy that saw nearly $30 million in bribes and kickbacks paid.

    Business Integra wins $59.9M State Department IT contract supporting security efforts

    Business Integra has won a $59.9 million IT support services contract to help the State Department with Diplomatic security.

    The company won a contract to provide a full range of administrative and technical services, such as program management, administrative support, system engineering, architecture, system development and other IT support services.

    The contract will support the State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security Administration and IT Support Services.

    Business Integra's team includes CACI International, Northrop Grumman and WR Systems.

    BAE Systems wins $8.3M contract for mine disposal system

    BAE Systems has won a $8.3 million contract modification to provide the Navy with program management, calibration, maintenance and engineering services support as part of an effort to upgrade a mine disposal system.

    The company's maritime services division in BAE's electronics business will take on the work, which is part of the Archerfish system.

    GD completes design of unmanned submarine

    General Dynamics has completed the critical design review for Knifefish, an unmanned underwater vehicle that will hunt mines, one month ahead of schedule.

    I read and mostly dismissed the headlines from earlier this week that PC sales slumped in the last quarter, falling 13.9 percent.

    International Data Corp., the market research firm that tracks these things, said it was the biggest quarterly drop ever.

    Obviously, PCs and laptops aren’t the technology driver they once were. The power of smartphones and tablets has usurped that role, but the rise of mobile devices is more about the network than the device.

    Northrop wins $40.5M contract for R&D, other services

    Northrop Grumman Information Systems has won a $40.5 million task order contract to provide research and development services to the Air Force, Homeland Security Department, Defense Intelligence Agency and other intelligence and Defense Department customers.

    Under the contract, the company will provide research, development, enhancement, integration, deployment and sustainment of the Secure Access Baseline for the Enterprise multi-level access solutions to these customers.

    Work will be performed in Herndon, Va., and is expected to be completed by April 9, 2018.
