SOUTH KOREA
ITT Exelis has won a multimillion dollar contract with South Korea to provide the country with an advanced geostationary weather imager to support the country’s forecasting capabilities.
This contract is related to the GEO-KOMPSAT-2A program, under which Exelis will deliver an advanced metrological imager, to be launched into geostationary orbit in 2017, the company said.

BAE Systems has won a $20 million contract with the U.S. Navy to provide a mine detection sensor prototype that detects mines and obstacles in near-shore waters.
This contract is part of the Coastal Battlefield Reconnaissance and Analysis program, which uses BAE Systems’ approach to obtain resources in design, integration and testing.

The Defense Information Systems Agency has awarded a $45 million contract to Alliance Technology Group for private cloud services for an intelligence agency without conducting a competition.
In itsjustification document for the no-compete procurement, DISA describes a need for an ISR – intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance – cloud for large data object storage and that Alliance Technology, a small business in Hanover, Md., is the only company capable of meeting the requirements.

How many of us have witnessed companies, especially smaller-sized firms, hiring a former government employee to ‘open doors’? I have observed this situation a number of times and observed rare success for both parties.
These people are often told, in more elegant terms, to “open doors” or “go find new business” or “find out about that new large procurement” by a senior manager in the company. This is interesting given that many of the people I met from the government, in these situations, had been career employees who had never worked in a company that was highly focused on revenue and profit each month.

CACI-CMS Information Systems has won a $9.7 million contract modification to provide program management and engineering services in support of Defense Department biometric programs.
This modification is to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract, and brings the total value of the contract to $43.4 million.
Work is to be performed in Alexandria, Va.
Funds were obligated at the time of the award, but no word on whether they will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
