22nd Century Technologies has won a $5.2 million contract to provide program support services for the Naval Postgraduate School and Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center.
Under the contract, the company provide services for business system implementation, academic system implementation, and information assurance including cybersecurity, identity management, network operations and data center operations. Other services will include IT infrastructure support and help desk services.

Northrop Grumman has won a task order with the General Services Administration to provide its combat simulator system to the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center.
This task order was awarded under the GSA’s Alliant task order contract.
Under the order, the company will provide the center with its Combat Electromagnetic Environment Simulator system, which is an advanced technology simulator that generates dynamic electromagnetic environments to simulate true-to-war conditions, Northrop Grumman said.
It also provides angle-of-arrival radio frequency simulation techniques including phase, amplitude and time difference of arrival, the company said.

The Navy has pushed back the award for the $5 billion Next Generation Enterprise Network contract back another month.
Earlier this year, the Navy moved the award date from February to May. Now they are moving it to June 30.
A team led by incumbent Hewlett-Packard Co. and a team led by Computer Sciences Corp. and Harris Corp. are locked in a battle for the replace to the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet contract that HP has held since 2000 when it was won by EDS.

The Homeland Security Department has set the clocking ticking on a $100 million contract to provide identity management products and services to the agency.
The request for proposals sets a deadline of July 1 for the 10-year contract being let through the DHS Office of the Chief Security Officer. The contract has a $99.5 million ceiling.

Three Top 100 firms have won a $49.9 million task order contract with the U.S. Navy to help its doctors and health care providers track assets around the world.
The Real Time Location System is an asset management system that enhances property accountability, equipment management, medical equipment maintenance and patient safety within Navy Medicine and all naval medical facilities, the Defense Department said.

ARMY
Northrop Grumman has won a $15.7 million contract modification to provide the U.S. Army with operational services in support of the Vehicle and Dismount Exploitation Radar System.
The system gives accurate ground moving target indicator data, as well as synthetic aperture radar imagery to ground commanders in real time, Northrop Grumman said on its website.
The total value of this contract is $139.8 million, the Defense Department said.
Work will take place in Afghanistan.

Last week, I attended a cybersecurity briefing put on by Northrop Grumman. Their theme was embedded cyber in defense platforms, particularly the command and control systems that run weapon systems.
One major point was the need to build cyber into these systems from the start, and to use open standards and enterprise architecture so the systems remain flexible and adaptable going forward. This way, they can evolve and be updated as new cyber threats emerge.
