ITT Exelis has won a $48 million contract option with the U.S. Army for follow-on production of enhanced night vision goggles.
These enhanced night vision goggles will allow soldiers to detect and identify potential threats in differing environmental conditions during night missions, the company said in a release.

The companies will be competing with each other in the small business track of functional category 2, which covers IT program support. The contract has a five-year base with a two-year option.

Paragon Systems has won a $42.5 million contract with the U.S. Air Force to provide a command and control frame work for its security services.
These services are to include perimeter security guards, construction surveillance technicians, security controllers and alarm monitors, the Defense Department said in a release.

NAVY
Lockheed Martin has won a $24 million contract modification to exercise an option for its Aegis Combat System Engineering Agent efforts.
This modification calls for the design, development, integration, test and delivery of computer program baselines and associated technology insertion hardware design support for the next advanced capability build, the Defense Department said.
Work will take place in Moorestown, N.J., and in Pittsfield, Mass., and is expected to be completed by December 2013.
Funds in the amount of $95,400 were obligated at the time of the award.

Jacobs Technology has won two contracts totaling $17.2 million with the U.S. Air Force to provide engineering and technology acquisition support services.
In addition to a similar contract that the company won last week, these contracts bring the total number of engineering and technology acquisition support services contracts up to three.

PEOPLE
Northrop Grumman has named Christine McGlade and Andrew W. Reynolds vice presidents of manufacturing operations.
The two will also be site managers for the company’s aircraft integration centers of excellence in St. Augustine, Fla., and Palmdale, Calif.
As vice president, McGlade will be responsible for managing and integrating all manufacturing and support operations at the St. Augustine site in coordination with the company’s various aircraft programs and other functional organizations, the company said.

It would be comical if it wasn't so pathetic, but the Air Force declared its second round of NetCents 2 Products contract awards null and void because it has decided it needs to take a corrective action.
The decision follows the filing of 14 protests in the wake of awards to eight companies in mid-April. That was the second round of awards. A year ago, the Air Force made nine awards, and was hit with 11 protests before it backed off those awards.

Dynamics Research Corp. has won an option with the Veterans Affairs Department that extends the period of performance of a previously awarded contract through May 10, 2014.
The option was awarded under the Veterans Relationship Management Portfolio Monitoring and Coordination contract, which was awarded to DRC’s subsidiary, High Performance Technologies in May 2010.

Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Army have commissioned the first Defense Department grid-tied microgrid which integrates both renewable resources and energy storage.
