Verizon is expanding its partner program into the public sector and has made a strategic hire as well as signing on Carahsoft as its first government partner.

Verizon Enterprise Solutions is expected to announce the Verizon Partner Program’s move in the public sector on Wednesday.

The company has hired Alex Hart to lead the initiative. Previously, he held senior leadership roles at VMware and Symantec.

The channel program allows Verizon’s partners to offer the company’s cloud, mobility, Internet of things, advanced communications and intelligent networking solutions to the government market.

“With a focus on growth, we are expanding our highly successful channel program to the public sector,” said Adam Famularo, vice president of Global Channels for Verizon Enterprise Solutions in a company statement. “As the largest communications provider to the U.S. federal government, we know there is huge demand for our services and we can best fulfill this need through our Verizon Partner Program.

The program offers three different levels of participation:

  • Sell with – Jointly market and present complementary solutions to potential clients.
  • Resale – Package and resell services
  • Agent – Sell select products and services on behalf of Verizon.

Other benefits include tools, consistent engagement process, training and certification.

The VPP also includes simple-to-use tools and clear and consistent engagement processes, as well as a training program and certification for its members. In addition, members have access to the Verizon Partner Portal that provides a secure account profile to allow users to manage the entire program from a single location.
