Novetta keeps M&A engine running hot

Novetta Solutions has closed its third and fourth deals of the year, bringing its deal total to seven in just over two years.

The mergers and acquisitions keep on rolling at Novetta Solutions LLC.

The company has made two more deals, this time building out its web-based data fusion and analytics capabilities as well as adding new customer sets.

The company has closed acquisitions for Digital Results Group and Sentinel Applied Analytics LLC. These are the third and fourth acquisitions Novetta has made in just over two months.

Digital Results Group, or DRG, develops web-enabled software that fuses in real-time sensor and intelligence data. Most of its customers are in the defense market. DRG was represented by the investment bank KippsDeSanto in the transaction.

Sentinel is a data analytics firm the uses applied statistical techniques to identify patterns, trends and relationships. Its main customer is the Homeland Security Department, but it has also done projects with financial institutions, global law firms, and foreign governments, Novetta said in a release. The McLean Group served as the advisor to Sentinel in the transaction.

The two companies’ “specialized software and solutions add niche capabilities to our analytics offerings,” said Novetta CEO Peter B. LaMontagne.

Financial terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

Novetta is backed by the private equity firm Arlington Capital and was formed in 2012 when they bought FGM and merged it with White Oak Technologies, a company they already had in their portfolio.

They acquired two other companies in 2012: International Biometric Group and White Cliffs Consulting.

The company remained quiet on the acquisition front until it acquired Global News Intelligence on July 30. Two weeks later it announced a deal for SigInt Technologies LLC.

For those keeping score, that’s seven acquisitions since March 2012. Not a bad track record.

The common thread throughout these acquisitions is the focus on the defense and intelligence markets and on technologies around data analytics and intelligence analysis.

For its acquisitions in 2012, Novetta was named one of the top dealmakers of the year.

With four acquisitions in 2014, it’s on track for similar recognition this year, and there are still three months left to go.
