State's chief information security officer to lead DHS cybersecurity efforts

The new head of the Homeland Security Department's National Cybersecurity Division will come from the State Department.

Federal News Radio reports John Streufert, State's chief information security officer and deputy chief information officer, will replace Nicole Dean, who is leaving DHS later this month for a position in the private sector.

Streufert has served at State for over five years and is a leader in continuous monitoring. He won a 2010 Federal 100 award for leading the team that created the Risk Scoring Program, which gave administrators the ability to continuously monitor risks to State’s information technology infrastructure.
