AF Space Command announces space, cyberspace summit

The Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) is planning an innovation summit that will focus on long-range science and technology advances in space and cyberspace, according to an announcement June 15.

At the summit called Space and Cyberspace Superiority 2030, AFSPC officials want to present ideas for three Future Year Defense Programs (FYDPs).

AFSPC will host two sessions.

Phase one of the summit is schedule for July 8 and 9 in Colorado Springs, Colo. AFSPC officials will lay out future plans and generate thought-provoking innovations that will help the command exceed the United States’ space and cyberspace long-term challenges.

Phase two will be held in September, and S&T experts from industry, academia, and research organizations will present their responses to the AFSPC’s challenges.

“Our hope is that industrial- and commercial-sector visionaries go beyond boundaries and constraints and make assumptions on how today’s challenges can be transformed several FYDPs from now and how we can develop and maintain our warfighting edge for years to come,” officials wrote in its FedBizOpps notice.
