The Navy is about to launch an Innovation Cell program to begin inserting commercial technologies into Navy networks without breaking the rules of the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Federal News Radio is reporting.

The department will be holding an industry day on Thursday, the day that the Innovation Cell program will launch, to present three statements focused on big data analytics, virtual desktops and end-user productivity suite, Federal News Radio said.

The Innovation Cell will aim to streamline the department’s requirements developments process, help individual requirements owners carry their needs through the acquisition system and prevent program managers from having to repeat market research.
