Exelis wins $22M contract to support space object tracking system

Exelis has won a $22 million contract with the Air Force to support the Ground-based Electro-optical Deep Space Surveillance (GEODSS) system.

Exelis has won a $22 million contract with the Air Force to support the Ground-based Electro-optical Deep Space Surveillance (GEODSS) system.

The GEODSS system tracks objects in deep space and helps avoid collisions with the International Space Station.

Under the contract, Exelis will provide system service and upgrades for the system.

Work will be performed in Socorro, N.M., and Maui, Hawaii, and is expected to be completed Feb. 13, 2018.
