Armed Forces Services Corp. of Arlington, Va., received a five-year, $5.8 million contract for program management support services for the Navy’s Human Research Protection Program (HRPP), the Navy announced Jan. 20.

The company will provide administrative support to HRPP, program management, analysis, budget and information system support. It will also support the developing and maintenance for HRPP guidance documentation related to applied research ethics and human research protection, reviewing compliance of collaborators within and outside of the federal government, oversight of clinical research, and training HRPP staff.

HRPP oversees approximately 1,300 research protocols and ensures humans are treated ethically in research tests.

The Navy said it reviewed proposals based on best overall value, such as management approach, corporate experience, and past performance, rather than on price.
