Engility wins $50.7M contract to support FAA's Next-Gen initiative

Engility has won a $50.7 million contract to provide technical, management and analysis support to the John A. Volpe Transportation Center and the Air Traffic Systems Directorate of the FAA’s Air Traffic Operations Program Management Office.

Under the contract, Engility will provide support to two programs: En Route Automation Modernization, a program that enables air traffic controllers at the nation’s Air Route Traffic Control Centers to more efficiently manage air traffic; and Terminal Automation Modernization Replacement, a program being used to modernize air traffic control systems at all of the United States’ major airports, the company said in a release.

Both programs are part of the FAA’s Next-Generation Air Transportation System, an initiative that will shift air traffic control from ground-based radars to smarter, satellite-based and digital technologies, Engility said.

The company has been working with the Volpe Center for almost 25 years, said Engility president and CEO Tony Smeraglinolo.
