Raytheon has won a $42.6 million contract to support the Navy’s global broadcast service (GBS) below deck terminals.
Raytheon has won a $42.6 million contract to support the Navy’s global broadcast service (GBS) below deck terminals.
The contract has a base value of $6.7 million.
The GBS is a key component of the Joint Military Satellite Communications program, which provides high speed information flow of high volume data to users both afloat, ashore and for Special Forces, the Defense Department said in a release.
GBS allows the Navy to receive, process and quickly disseminate live video and large files to support operating forces, training exercises, weapons targeting, intelligence and reconnaissance, the Defense Department said.
Work will take place in Sterling, Va., Norfolk, Va., and Dulles, Va., and is expected to be completed by October 2015, or by October 2019 with options.
Raytheon was the only bidder on this contract.
