Huntington Ingalls takes on $10M submarine research contract

Huntington Ingalls has won a $10 million contract with the Navy to support submarine research and development.

Huntington Ingalls has won a $10 million contract with the Navy to support submarine research and development.

Under the contract, the company will provide engineering and technical design services to support research and development of advanced submarine technologies for current and future submarine platforms, the Defense Department said in a release.

The research and development will support wide range of needs including manufacturing, maintenance, manning, survivability, human factors, weapons handling and logistics.

Work will be performed in Newport News, Va., and is expected to be completed by December 2015.
