Arête Associates wins $11.7M to support Navy mine countermeasures efforts

Arête Associates has won a $11.7 million contract to provide the Navy with a system to help combat ship mine countermeasures missions.

Arête Associates has won a $11.7 million contract to provide the Navy with a system to help combat ship mine countermeasures missions.

Under the contract, the company will provide one AN/DVS-1 coastal battlefield reconnaissance and analysis (COBRA) Block 1 low-rate initial production system.

The COBRA system will conduct unmanned aerial tactical reconnaissance in littoral battlespace for detection and localization of mine fields and obstacles in the surf zone and beach zone prior to amphibious assault, the Defense Department said in a release.

Work will be performed in Tucson, Ariz., and is expected to be completed by February 2017.
