Five win $2.5B contract to consolidate Navy afloat networks

Five companies have won an eight-year $2.5 billion contract to provide the Navy with Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) production units.

Five companies have won an eight-year $2.5 billion contract to provide the Navy with Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services (CANES) production units.

The winners are:

  • BAE Systems
  • General Dynamics C4 Systems
  • Global Technical Systems
  • Northrop Grumman
  • Serco

According to the Defense Department, CANES is a bridge to the future of Navy afloat networks, consolidating existing legacy and standalone networks, providing the necessary infrastructure for applications, systems and services to operate in the tactical domain.

The contract has no options.

Work will be performed in North Charleston, S.C., Taunton, Mass., Virginia Beach, Va., Madison, Ala., and San Diego, Calif., and work is expected to be completed in August 2022.
