Northrop Grumman wins $53M option to modernize, sustain DOD's C2 system

Northrop Grumman has won a $53 million option to continue modernizing and sustaining the Defense Department’s command and control system.

This option was exercised under the Global Command and Control System-Joint contract first announced in March 2013, Northrop Grumman said in a release. The contract extension for this contract was issued by DISA under the Encore II contract vehicle.

The Defense Department’s command and control system is used to plan, execute and manage joint and multinational military operations.

"As part of DISA's modernization plan, we are optimizing GCCS-J for the joint and coalition environment, designing a globally accessible C2 data fabric and streamlining the system," said Mike Twyman, vice president and general manager, defense systems division, Northrop Grumman Information Systems.
