GDIT scores $23M contract to support biological, chemical material modeling

General Dynamics Information Technology has won a $23 million contract to develop modeling software for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.

This contract is known as the Joint Effects Model Increment 2 contract, or JEM, which will serve the Defense Department in modeling the effects of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear material releases.

Under the contract, General Dynamics will develop software that will serve as the foundation for the JEM Increment 2 System as well as the software architecture for the JEM science and technology prototype, which provides rapid defense planning capabilities to remotely deployed warfighters, the company said in a release.

GDIT will also provide program and systems engineering management support.

Work will take place in Middletown, R.I., Buffalo, N.Y., and San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by April 2019.
