Data Link Solutions wins $24M contract to modernize MIDS system

Data Link Solutions has won a $66.3 million contract with the Navy to modernize the on-ship multi-functional information distribution system, or MIDS system.

The MIDS system provides secure, high-capacity, jam-resistant, digital data and voice communications capability for Navy, Air Force and Army platforms.

This contract covers the development, fabrication, integration, testing and delivery of systems, which will be developed to support both the MIDS Joint Tactical Radio System and the MIDS low volume terminal four for shipboard applications, the Defense Department said.

Work will be performed in Wayne, N.J., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and is expected to be completed by February 2017, or February 2022 with options.

Funding in the amount of $8.2 million is obligated at the time of the award.

Two bids were received for this contract.
