Two win radiology contracts with Defense Department

Two contractors have won contracts with the Defense Logistics Agency to provide radiology systems, subsystems and components.

Two contractors have won contracts with the Defense Logistics Agency to provide radiology systems, subsystems and components.

The winners are:

  • Toshiba America Medical Systems – $187.7 million
  • Vital Images Inc. – $10 million

Founded in 1875, Toshiba America Medical Systems provides integrated diagnostic solutions through long-term, customer-focused partnerships to improve the quality of life for people, according to its website.

Vital Images is a Toshiba Medical Systems Group company and provides next-gen, advanced visualization software which enables the visualization and analysis of 2D, 3D and 4D images of anatomy and physiological functions using computed tomography and magnetic resonance scan data, the company said on its website.

Work will be performed in California and Minnesota, and is expected to be completed Jan. 31, 2015 (for Vital Images), and Feb. 3, 2015 (for Toshiba).

The Defense Logistics Agency has been awarding a number of radiology contracts over the past year. The agency awarded MinXRay Inc. and Virtual Imaging Inc. contracts in June 2013, and awarded one to Carestream Health in December 2013. Earlier this month, the agency awarded a radiology contract to Pacsgear Inc.
