Raytheon wins $406M to supply radars, fire control systems for AEGIS

Contract continues 40-year relationship between Raytheon, AEGIS

Raytheon Co. has won a $406 million contract to provide radar transmitters and fire control systems for the AEGIS program.

Under the contract, Raytheon will provide AN/SPY-1 radar transmitters and MK99 Fire Control Systems, which are both critical components of the AEGIS weapon system, performing the search, track and missile guidance functions for the system.

AEGIS, which means shield in Greek, is a command and control system that uses computers and radars and other systems to track and guide defensive and offensive weapons.

This year marks Raytheon’s 40th year supporting fleet defense through the AEGIS program, the company said in a release.
