Schafer Corp. taps new president and COO

Schafer Corp. has named John M. Gilligan president and chief operating officer, where he will oversee daily operations and help reach growth objectives for the company.

Gilligan will also participate as a member of the executive management team in setting the strategic direction and goals for the company, Shafer Corp. said in a release.

Before joining Shafer Corp., Gilligan was president of Gilligan Group, a Va.-based IT and cyber firm. He also served as senior vice president and director of SRA International’s defense sector.

Gilligan also served as chief information officer for the Air Force and Energy Department, and worked as a program executive officer for battle management and command and control for the Air Force, Schafer Corp. said.

He holds a M.S.E. in computer engineering from Case Western Reserve University, and an MBA in finance from Virginia Tech.
