Navy awards $26M contract for unmanned underwater vehicles

Hydroid Inc., a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime, has won a $26.2 million contract to support the Navy’s MK18 unmanned underwater vehicle family of systems.

Hydroid Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime. The company manufactures advanced, innovative autonomous underwater vehicles for deep sea survey and mapping worldwide for both military and commercial customers, according to the Kongsberg Maritime website.

Under the contract, Hydroid will provide engineering services, repair services and training support.

Work will be performed in Pocasset, Mass., and is expected to be completed by September 2018.

Funding in the amount of $546,000 is obligated at the time of the award, and will expire at the end of fiscal 2014.
