Raytheon wins $236.7M contract to provided CEC engineering services

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems has won a $236.7 million contract to provide the Navy with cooperative engagement capability, or CEC, design agent and engineering services.

The contract has a base value of $32.8 million, but options push it much higher.

CEC is a sensor netting system that improves anti-air warfare capability by extracting and distributing sensor-derived information such that the superset of this data is available to all participating CEC units, the Defense Department said.

It improves battle force effectiveness by improving overall situational awareness and by enabling longer range, cooperative, multiple or layered engagement strategies, the Defense Department said.

This contract was originally awarded on Sept. 27, 2013, but due to the government shutdown, it was not announced until now. 

Funding in the amount of $6.5 million was obligated at the time of the award, and did not expire when fiscal 2013 ended.
