Northrop Grumman wins $10M contract to bolster Global Hawk capabilities

Northrop Grumman has been tapped by the Navy to increase the number of missions that its Global Hawk UAV performs monthly under a $10 million.

Northrop Grumman has won a $10 million contract modification to provide the U.S. Navy with operations and maintenance services.

These services will support the Navy’s Broad Area Maritime Surveillance – Demonstrator UAV, also known as the Global Hawk Maritime – Demonstrator, the Defense Department said.

Services will help the UAV perform 15 maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions per month, as opposed to the nine that it currently performs.

Work will take place in Patuxent River, Md., and outside of the United States, and is expected to be completed by May 2014.

Funding in the amount of $3 million is obligated at the time of the award, and will expire at the end of fiscal 2013.
