Twitter has acquired Lucky Sort, a company with an engine called TopicWatch, which can sift through unstructured data of any given kind, and pull out information, as well as summarize its content in real time.

Twitter has acquired Lucky Sort, a Portland, Oregon-based startup that deals in big data.

Lucky Sort is the company behind an engine called TopicWatch, TechCrunch reported, which discovers patterns in live data streams.

The engine uses natural language processing techniques to sift through social media, government filings, news and commentary in real time to find, summarize and analyze any text-based content, TechCrunch said.
