SRA acquires national security solutions business

Transaction should close by the end of December 2012

SRA International is buying the national security solutions business from MorganFranklin, bolstering many of its capabilities and its contract vehicle opportunities.

The acquisition will expand SRA’s defense, national security and health portfolios, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SRA is picking 180 new employees.

The acquisitions will add to SRA capabilities such as C4ISR, continuity of operations and emergency planning, information assurance and cybersecurity, intelligence analysis and project management office support.

The company also expects to be able to expand its relationship with customers through additional opportunities associated with contract vehicles coming over with MorganFranklin, SRA said.

MorganFranklin recently won two large government IT and communication support contracts. The Global Tactical Advanced Communications Systems and Services contract from the Army and the U.S. Government Omnibus Network Enterprise contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency.

The transaction should close near the end of the current calendar year.

MorganFranklin is selling the business as part of a plan for the company to focus on financial management, performance improvement and technology capabilities, the company said in a statement.
