Accomplished HR expert to help lead company-wide HR strategy and operations

Abt Associates has named John Ruyter vice president of human resources, where he will help lead the company’s human resources strategy and operations.

Ruyter was previously senior director of human resources at DLA Piper, a global law firm.

He has had many successes with projects related to recruiting, developing and retaining employees, Abt said.

Before DLA Piper, Ruyter held human resources positions within health care, insurance and legal organizations.

“John represents the best in an operational and strategic HR professional who is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best talent at Abt Associates, said Clarissa Peterson, Abt’s chief human resources and ethics officer.

Ruyter has served as adjunct faculty at Towson University’s human resources graduate program. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Towson, and is a certified senior professional in human resources from the HR Certification Institute, Abt said.
