SRA to help DOJ with biometric database system
SRA will provide services in support of the DOJ's Joint Biometric Data Exchange Hosting Environment program under a $21.4 million contract
SRA International will help improve biometic database system under a $21.4 million contract with the Justice Department.
The contract was awarded under the Information Technology Support Services 4 procurement vehicle. SRA will continue managing, operating and maintaining the agency’s Joint Biometric Data Exchange Hosting Environment infrastructure.
Services include system operations, maintenance and help desk support, system development, government furnished equipment inventory/distribution management and system security.
The Joint Biometric Data Exchange Hosting Environment consists of two parts. One is the automated booking system that facilitates data dissemination and real-time information sharing between federal law enforcement agencies across the nation.
SRA said that it interfaces with the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s fingerprinting system, enabling law enforcement to effectively identify individuals in federal custody.
Its other part is the Civilian Applicant System, which enables users to capture civilian application fingerprints and biographical data electronically, which is then transmitted to the FBI as part of the background investigation process for current and new employees, and other personnel.
