American Systems wins $83M pact for IRS communications system
Win comes under GSA's Connections II contract

American Systems Corp. will help build a unified communications system for the IRS that brings together voice, email, texting and other technologies under a $83 million contract.
The contract was awarded under the General Services Administration’s Connections II procurement vehicle.
The company will provide program management, engineering, logistics, purchasing, testing, implementation and support for the project, which the company says is the government’s largest unified communications project.
“American Systems understands the need for integrated communications systems in the federal workplace to help IRS achieve their mission,” William C. Hoover, company president and CEO said in a statement.
Under the contract, American Systems will help integrate voice, voicemail, email, text messaging, faxes and other communications such as video and presence technologies into a single interface. Communications will be accessible from a variety of devices and will help support collaboration and improve connectivity and productivity, the company said.
Work will take place at over 600 IRS locations, including major offices at New Carrollton, Md., Martinsburg, W.Va., Memphis, Tenn., Detroit, and Fresno, Calif.
