Harris wins $50.5M order for new satellite terminals

Harris Corp. has won a $50.5 million delivery order for satellite communications terminals through the U.S. Army’s Modernization of Enterprise Terminals program.

The terminals will support worldwide, high-priority military communications and missile defense systems, Harris said.

The Modernization of Enterprise Terminals task order contract, or MET, has a five-year base and a five-year option period for production, installation, depot and engineering services to support fielding of the terminals. It has a ceiling of $600 million.

This delivery order brings Harris’ total award winnings through the contract to $264 million since 2009.

Under the order, Harris is to supply additional terminals, including both large fixed and transportable X-/Ka-band terminals. It will also include common electronics equipment, spares to support the fielding of the terminals and operator training.

“The MET program has successfully completed all required testing for SATCOM Certification of this new generation of strategic, multiband terminals, which provide critical reach-back capability for soldiers in the field," said Bill Gattle, vice president of Aerospace Systems, Harris Government Communications Systems.

The MET program is managed by the project manager, Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems.
