BAE shifts executive ranks

The leader of BAE Systems land and armaments sector is stepping down from that post to take over the company's enterprise shared services organization.
Frank Pope, president of land and armaments, will step down Oct. 1, BAE Systems said.
Erwin Bieber, current vice president and general manager of business operations for the company’s intelligence and security sector, will take Pope’s place.
Pope joined BAE Systems in 2007, and led the land and armaments business through a period of heavy demand during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
In his new role, he will lead efforts to improve efficiency through sharing of services across the company, which BAE said was a transition that began in late 2011 with the consolidation of human resources and finance functions.
Bieber joined the Singer Company in 1985, which became part of BAE Systems through the GEC Marconi business. He began his career as a systems engineer with Sperry Strategic Systems, and as a civilian with the U.S. Navy.
At BAE, Bieber served in a number of engineering, business development, program management and functional and line leadership positions.
He was recently served as both leader of the shared services implementation and as acting president of the intelligence and security sector, the company said.
