Maryland firm captures $100M NIST contract

A Maryland-based small business has landed its largest contract to date, capturing a $100 million contract from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Dakota Consulting Inc., of Silver Spring, Md., will provide scientific, technical and engineering support services to NIST. Most of the work will take place at NIST’s campus in Gaithersburg, Md., the company said.

The company has no teammates on the five-year, task-order contract, of which it is the sole winner.

Dakota, which was founded by CEO Lori Renner, will support NITS’s physical measurement laboratory, materials measurement laboratory, engineering laboratory and its IT laboratory.

Work may include standards support and development, biometric research and algorithm development, physics, engineering, chemistry and biology research, and computer science.
