Two win ground systems contracts with Army

Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. and STS International Inc. have each won ground station systems contracts for the U.S. Army, according to a Defense Department announcement.

Northrop Grumman’s cost-plus-incentive-fee contract is valued at $31.2 million for the development of the Joint Tactical Ground Station system. Work is expected to be completed by Feb. 24, 2014, and will take place in Colorado Springs, Colo. Northrop Grumman was the sole source on this contract. Joint Tactical Ground Station systems have an infrared surveillance capability that aids the military in missile defense.

STS International’s fixed-price multiple-award task order contract is valued at $18.2 million, for the procurement of the Standard Ground Station systems. Work is expected to be completed by Aug. 19, 2015. Standard ground station systems have capabilities that allow the stations to communicate with satellites for the purposes of surveillance.

The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command is the contracting activity for Northrop Grumman’s award. The U.S. Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity for STS International’s award.
