Eight win $2.6B satellite communications contract

Eight businesses have won the Custom Satellite Communications Solutions contract, awarded by the General Services Administration and the Defense Information Systems Agency, for commercial satellite services.

The winners are as follow:

  • Americom Government Services Inc.
  • ARTEL Inc.
  • DRS Technical Services Inc.
  • Hughes Network Systems Inc.
  • Intelsat General Corp.
  • Segovia Inc.
  • Telecommunication Systems Inc.
  • Vizada Inc.

The Custom Satellite Communications Solutions contract is a task order contract with a $2.6 billion ceiling. It has a five-year period of performance.

The award is part of the Future Commercial Satellite Communications Services Acquisition program, which was started to provide essential, secure communications to disaster recovery teams, domestic emergency responders, and the military by using commercial satellite communications.

By adding additional sources for end-to-end solutions to those currently available sources, these eight awards will expand the common marketplace for commercial satellite communications, the announcement said.
