SAIC launches logistics support for AF missile center

Science Applications International Corp. will provide logistics support to the Air Force under a 31-month task order that has a total value of $36 million.

The task order from the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center – Space Logistics Directorate, under the center’s technical services blanket purchase agreement vehicle, calls for consolidated logistics management support for the Air Force Space Command, primarily in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Under the contract, SAIC’s services will include: initial engineering technical analysis; project planning; project budgeting analysis; and coordination support required to evaluate sustainment issues.

SAIC will also provide core sustainment support, logistics support analysis and immediate technical assistance to the user, as required, for several space weapon system programs including the Space Based Infrared System and the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program.

The Space and Missile Systems Center researches, develops and purchases military space systems and is responsible for on-orbit, check-out testing, sustainment and maintenance of military satellite constellations and other Department of Defense space systems.

SAIC, of McLean, Va., ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology’s 2012 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
