HP is primed to help DISA measure networks, vulnerabilities

Hewlett Packard Co. has been named the Defense Information Systems Agency’s prime contractor to provide analytics that will be able to measure Defense Department enterprise networks and connected IT systems against DOD standards and spot any system vulnerabilities.

The contract, awarded under DISA’s Encore II contract vehicle, is valued at up to approximately $39.8 million over seven years, according to the April 20 announcement from the computer giant.

Under the terms of the contract, HP Enterprise Services’ Assured Compliance Assessment Solution will be available as the compliance solution throughout the DOD. HP will ensure that strict compliance levels are met by providing DISA with implementation, training, help desk and project management services.

The work will help enhance the DOD’s ability to detect IT system vulnerabilities, ensuring improved and efficient security, the announcement said.

HP also will provide integrated services for ACAS, which include the Tenable SecurityCenter product by Tenable Network Security Inc.

This integrated solution provides DISA with instant access to its global footprint and technology expertise, while delivering a turnkey solution that will achieve all information security compliance initiatives.

“Providing robust cybersecurity protection and defenses to DISA and across the DOD enterprise is a top priority for DISA’s leadership,” said Betsy Hight, HP Enterprise Services vice president of cybersecurity practice in the company’s U.S. Public Sector.

Hewlett Packard Co., of Palo Alto, Calif., ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
