30 win $3B Secret Service contract

The Homeland Security Department has named 30 companies to its multiple-award contract worth a potential $3 billion to provide tactical communications equipment to the Secret Service.

The contract award, revealed to the 30 awardees on March 26, calls for providing tactical communication products (TacCom), infrastructure, and other related services to the DHS, according to the FedBizOpps notice posted April 11.

The contractors will support "mission-critical" public safety communications."

Contractors may receive contracts in one or multiple technical categories.

Each indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract has a 2-year base and three 1-year options.

Some of the technical categories include portable/mobile radios, control/base stations, software, upgrades, repeaters, routers, comparator systems, engineering, design, installations, maintenance, frequency managers, spectrum managers and test equipment.
