CSC wins $297M Maryland Medicaid IT upgrade award

Computer Sciences Corp. will completely revamp Maryland’s Medicaid information system under an eight-year contract that has an estimated total value to $297 million.

The contract from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene calls for CSC to replace the state’s Medicaid Management Information System and to provide fiscal agent services for selected DHMH programs, according to a March 19 CSC announcement.

Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will develop and implement a new enterprise IS solution for DHMH health care administration.

CSC is partnering with CNSI, of Gaithersburg, Md., to develop this solution, which will be aligned with CMS’ Medicaid Information Technology Architecture framework. This system also will provide the department with an IT platform that promotes operational efficiencies and information-sharing, reduces fraud and abuse, and provides flexibility to support future health care mandates, the announcement said.

CSC will also serve as the fiscal agent for the state agency providing operational support to manage provider and recipient call centers, provider enrollment, prior authorization reviews, claims processing and other administrative activities.

In addition to CNSI, CSC’s small business partners include with Gantech, Blue Collar Objects, Group Z, PSI, Korak, SNAP and Softek.

CSC, of Falls Church, Va., ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
