5 contractors go after $532M in Patent Office task orders

Five companies will compete for task orders under a $532 million contract with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for systems development and integration.

The USPTO Systems Development and Integration Next-Generation contract includes applications development, modernization operations and maintenance services, according to a Feb. 6 Unisys Corp. announcement. Unisys is one of the winners of the contract.

Under the five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract, the companies will be able to compete to support USPTO in all phases of the agency's patent and trademark activities, from application through publication.

This is the first applications development services contract vehicle for Unisys at the agency, the Unisys announcement said. The company has provided mainframe hardware to USPTO for more than three decades.

In addition to Unisys, the four other winners are:

  • Computer Sciences Corp.
  • CGI Group
  • Pragmatics
  • Science Applications International Corp.
