Our M&A methodology

Our roundup of 2011's mergers and acquisitions covers the transactions that closed during 2011. Deals that were announced in 2011 but did not close were not included.

The roundup is put together by the investment bank Houlihan Lokey and supplemented by Washington Technology’s staff and other reports.

Our biggest deals of the year were determined by a panel of M&A experts from the following firms: Aronson Capital Partners, BB&T Capital Markets | Windsor Group, Bluestone Capital Partners, Grant Thornton LLP, Holland & Knight, Houlihan Lokey, KippsDeSanto, the McLean Group, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, Raymond James, Stronghold Advisors and Stifel Nicolaus Weisel.
