CGI to support artillery systems under Army contract

CGI Federal Inc. has been awarded a $89.4 million contract to help the Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) protect members of the U.S. military by providing mission-critical systems, including those for field artillery mission command, radar, and handheld devices.

The contractor has a 30-year history working with CECOM.

CGI Federal, which is a U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group Inc., will provide software engineering and system support for the one-year contract with a one-year option period, according to a Jan. 17 company statement.

CECOM, offers Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) for the Army.

CGI will provide C4ISR for artillery support systems, including software development and fielding. Most of the work will be performed at CGI’s Systems Engineering Center of Excellence in Lawton/ Fort Sill, Okla.

CGI Group Inc., of Montreal, Que., ranks No. 41 on Washington Technology’s 2011 Top 100 list of the largest federal government contractors.
