Northrop, Finmeccanica team up for NATO cyber project

Northrop Grumman Corp. and the Italian defense contractor Finmeccanica have signed a teaming agreement to pursue a NATO contract for cybersecurity.

The companies are chasing the NATO Computer Incident Response Capability, which will be a managed service to provide information assurance to 50 NATO sites spread across 28 countries as well as its headquarters, Northrop said in an announcement.

The project will detect and respond to cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities, the company said.

“This is a strong partnership which combines the capabilities, resources and expertise of both organisations spanning the [United Kingdom], U.S. and Italy and resulting in a superior proposal which best meets the requirements of this key NATO programme," said Alberto de Benedictis, CEO of Finmeccanica UK. He runs Finmeccanica Cyber Solutions, the part of the company that will work on the proposal with Northrop.
